Hiking/boxing in Indiana or Kentucky?

From: Wisconsin Hiker (kotlarek@wi.rr.com) | Date: 2009-05-12 03:48:31 UTC
Can anyone recommend some specific letterboxes that are located on longer hikes in interesting areas in southern and/or eastern Indiana or northern Kentucky?

We'll be driving from southern IL to an event in northeastern Indiana and are flexible in our route. We could swing through Evansville, Indianapolis, or Fort Wayne IN or Louisville KY. Any good hiking in larger state or county parks, preferably with some letterboxes on the trails? We've received a few ideas so far, but would welcome more suggestions.

Thanks!

I assume Turkey Run State Park is out of your way, but it has some of the best hiking in the state.

Thanks! That is one park that has been suggested to us. However it
probably is a bit further west than we will be on this trip.

Out west, Land Between the Lakes is some of the prettiest countryside I have seen in KY. Not many boxes in KY, as the nearest larger town is Paducah, so the area is kind of box-sparse. The TN end has more boxes.

Hi! We just visited Bernheim Research Forest between Elizabethtown and Louisville. It was wonderful!! They have a number of trails to take. I think totalling over 30 miles worth. There are 3 letterboxes hidden there, that I know of. Look under Bardstown on AtlasQuest.

Have a safe trip!
